I was in college and thinking about how many of my girlfriends had such low self-esteem. I wanted to write a song expressing my frustration, but more than that- I wanted to call forth the beauty that lies in each woman.
lyrics
V.1
You wear rose colored glasses
It’s how you see through a stained glass window
Perception so muddy and confusing
Will you let the truth set you free.
V.2
I hate the way you tear yourself
Down and down piece by piece
Your self-esteem is so low
It’s starting to even hurt me.
Ch.
How can I make you see, you’re beautiful, so beautiful to me
How can I make you see, you’re wonderful, beautiful the way you are.
V.3
A mirror put in front of you just helps to reinforce your own views
How could someone so smart and intelligent be so wrong and misconstrued?
